What to Expect
The primary goal is to improve heart health, prevent future disease, and improve quality of life.
Your appointment with Dr. Lee will not be a standard medical office visit. Instead, you will be offered comprehensive and personalized heart health services and treatment.
At the initial consultation, you will talk to Dr. Lee one-on-one as she listens attentively and gathers your comprehensive life history. You will also undergo a comprehensive physical exam, and possibly a body composition analysis. Based on this information, together you and Dr. Lee will construct a personalized health plan and further recommendations. Dr. Lee nurtures a unique partnership with her patients that empowers them to reach optimal health and wellness.
Her goal as your doctor is to empower you to take ownership of your own health and life, decrease the need for medications and procedures and create a healthier, happier, sustainable lifestyle. You will sit comfortably, as if in her living room, as Dr. Lee gathers your health information. Your first appointment will be a 60 to 90-minute consultation. This will not be a quick history, but an extensive look at your health and lifestyle from the beginning.
Dr. Lee will frame a health history timeline for you and piece together the aspects of your current lifestyle that may be contributing to your illness. You will then undergo a comprehensive physical exam, and possibly body composition analysis. Dr. Lee may encourage additional testing which may include advanced lipids, inflammation, diabetes profile, and/or comprehensive nutritional profile.
Dr. Lee follows the standards for treating patients with heart disease as recommended by The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
If any tests or studies are ordered, Dr. Lee will obtain and analyze the results. She will share the results with you and take them into consideration when creating your Heart Health Plan. The results also will lay a baseline and track improvement throughout the process.
Based on your health history, risk profile, and test results, you and Dr. Lee will work collaboratively to construct a personalized health plan and additional recommendations. The health plan will incorporate additional tools and strategies from both Western and Eastern medicine. You can expect the health plan to include a diet/nutrition plan, exercise program, and/or stress management techniques.
Dr. Lee believes in sharing her knowledge in Functional and Integrative Cardiology and showing her patients how to make sustainable lifestyle changes such as improving your diet and creating an exercise regime. Alternative medicine services (yoga, meditation, chiropractor, acupuncture) may also be suggested. The health plan may include stress management techniques, such as one-on-one, in-office yoga lessons with Dr. Lee.
Depending on your experience and comfort level, a yoga lesson may include breathing exercises, guided meditation, and/or yoga postures. Depending on your needs and interests, Dr. Lee may provide a referral for alternative medicine services that will complement your personalized health plan. Alternative approaches will be considered on an individual basis. Her initial recommendations will be lifestyle modifications which may involve any or all of the following: nutrition counseling, fitness program, therapeutic yoga, meditation, and stress management techniques.
Once the personalized health plan is agreed upon by you and Dr. Lee, you will receive a 2 follow-up calls from her for accountability and to guide you on your health journey. Dr. Lee wants to address your health concerns without surgery and medications. She will work closely with you to develop a plan that maintains a healthy lifestyle and will help keep you accountable for your health goals.
