Dr. Millie Lee believes with all her heart and soul that Heart Disease is a Lifestyle Disease which is the result of how we live our lives – how and what we eat, do, emote and think. The treatment and prevention of heart disease, therefore lies in addressing our lifestyles, healing mind, body and spirit.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the world despite all the remarkable advances of modern medicine. These advances excel in the management of acute cardiac events, such as a heart attack, and the management of the late stages of heart disease.
The conventional approach to heart disease, however, is predominantly symptom management, not reversal of disease or prevention.

More needs to be done to prevent heart disease but not more of the same. For this reason, Dr. Lee is determined to do more than follow traditional guidelines to treat her patient’s heart problems. She provides a patient-centered approach using Functional Medicine to identify the root cause or causes of heart disease to reverse and prevent disease for each individual.

She serves individuals with coronary artery disease, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias, heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cholesterol problems, and patients concerned about their possible risk of developing heart disease.

As an integrative cardiologist, Dr. Lee sees her patients as much more than “heart” patients but rather as unique and complex individuals with multiple, interacting body systems. She will inquire about other conditions and all aspects of your life. As a yoga therapist herself, she recognizes the importance of addressing mind, body and spirit in achieving optimal health.

At the initial consultation, you will talk to Dr. Lee one-on-one as she listens attentively and gathers your comprehensive life history. You will also undergo a comprehensive physical exam, including body composition analysis. Based on this information, together you and Dr. Lee will construct a personalized health plan and further recommendations.

Dr. Lee will often recommend further testing to assess your risk of heart disease and determine the root cause. These tests are not routinely done in conventional medicine where the focus is not on prevention and risk reduction but on the management of disease.

She will work with you to create a personalized, custom heart plan and healthy habits. The key to a successful health plan is that the patients themselves assume complete control over their health. She will guide you and motivate you but the work is yours.
